Mechanical
Mechanical works at a fuel station involve the installation and maintenance of fluid handling systems, storage hardware, and specialized safety equipment designed for 2025 standards.
Mechanical work details:
01. Fuel Storage and Containment Systems
- Underground Storage Tank (UST) Installation: Placing double-walled fiberglass or steel tanks into excavated, anchored pits.
- Corrosion Protection: Installing cathodic protection systems or applying specialized epoxy coatings to prevent metal tank and pipe degradation.
- Manhole and Sump Installation: Fitting spill containers and containment sumps over tank openings to catch drips during filling and prevent environmental contamination.
02. Piping and Fluid Transfer Systems
- Fuel Line Installation: Laying out filler, vent, and delivery lines using materials like seamless steel, copper, or flexible high-density polyethylene.
- Submersible Turbine Pumps (STPs): Installing high-pressure pumps inside tanks to push fuel to dispensers (pressurized systems).
- Manhole and Sump Installation: Fitting spill containers and containment sumps over tank openings to catch drips during filling and prevent environmental contamination.
- Hydrostatic Pressure Testing: Performing critical mechanical tests on all new or repaired pipework to ensure there are no leaks before the site becomes operational.
03. Dispensing and Customer Equipment
- Fuel Dispenser Setup: Mounting dispensers onto concrete islands and connecting them to the product piping.
- Mechanical Component Maintenance: Servicing the internal hardware of dispensers, including meters, pumping units, and flow control valves.
- Hose and Nozzle Management: Regularly replacing fuel hoses, nozzles, and automatic shutoff valves to prevent cracks and ensure safe operation.
04. Ancillary and Facility Mechanical Works
- Air and Water Stations: Installing and maintaining air compressors for tire inflation and radiator water delivery systems.
- Car Wash Systems: Maintaining mechanical brushes, high-pressure water pumps, and complex drainage systems for on-site car washes.
- HVAC and Plumbing: Installing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for the convenience store, along with standard building plumbing for restrooms.
- Backup Generators: Maintaining the mechanical engines and fuel supply lines for emergency diesel generators.
