Electrical

Electrical works at a fuel station involve a complex network of systems critical for operations and, most importantly, safety in a hazardous environment. These installations require specialized, often explosion-proof, equipment and strict adherence to safety regulations to prevent the ignition of flammable vapors.

All electrical work must comply with local and national safety standards and require regular inspections and testing by licensed specialists to ensure continued safe operation.

Electrical work details:

01. Safety and Emergency Systems

  • Emergency Shutoff Systems: Critical systems, including external and console-operator switches, designed to immediately cut all power to the dispensers and associated systems in an emergency.
  • Grounding and Bonding: Extensive grounding systems for all metallic structures (tanks, piping, dispensers, lightning rods) to prevent static electricity build-up and safely dissipate lightning strikes, reducing fire and shock risks.
  • Leak Detection Sensors: Installation of sensors that monitor for fuel leaks and can trigger an automatic power shutdown.

02. Control and Monitoring Systems

  • Fuel System Control Panel: A dedicated panel to monitor and control fuel transfer, including receiving inputs from tank level sensors and operating pumps and valves.
  • Point-of-Sale (POS) and Payment Systems: Wiring for electronic payment systems, card readers, computers, and transaction processing units located within the shop/kiosk area.
  • Security Systems: Installation of CCTV cameras, alarms, and public address (PA) systems.

03. Power Distribution

  • Installation and maintenance of the main electrical distribution panel, circuit breakers, and associated wiring to power all facility operations safely.

04. Fuel Dispenser Wiring

  • Specialized power and control wiring for the fuel pumps connected to underground storage tanks. This involves the use of explosion-proof wiring and conduits within designated hazardous zones.

05. Lighting and Signage

  • Installation of interior, exterior, canopy, and security lighting, using explosion-proof fixtures where necessary, to ensure visibility and safety during all hours.

06. Ancillary Equipment

  • Power supply for other electrical loads on site, such as refrigerated cabinets, car wash equipment, air compressors, and vacuum cleaners.
